Thinking on your feet and reinventing quickly helps boost your business, but keeping your people happy is paramount to your success.

more than half of 2019 has passed and it’s time to re-evaluate work and business. When implementing new ideas be sure that you look at what makes you and your employees happy.

PUT YOUR EMPLOYEES FIRST

Make it a priority to take better care of employees and colleagues and your attentiveness will positively influence overall workplace morale and boost your business. When your employees are happy they will be more productive – an attitude that is delightfully contagious! If you own a business, talk to your employees and ask about what they see in their career path with you. You can then work on accommodating their desires and goals by reassigning them accordingly. Start looking at your office culture – you can offer a monthly ‘happy hour’ where you conduct internal team-building activities. Additionally, you may offer flexible working hours to employees with children so you contribute to their quality family time, which in turn, makes them happier to work for you and with you.

FOCUS ON YOUR CUSTOMERS

No one customer or client needs the same thing day in and day out. Their needs and wants continuously change over time. Your business' product or service might be on point at the moment based on demand, but never allow yourself to get too comfortable. Conduct surveys; it could be a one-on-one conversation or a focus group discussion. The goal is to get a better understanding of your customers’ mind-set. This way, you can review your offerings and make relevant changes to stay ahead of demands.

SCHEDULE BREAKS FOR YOURSELF

As an employer, even when you’re not working, your brain is actually working. So you need to review your personal stress levels and set aside time to rest. It’s important to be disciplined about having time-out so you can spend time with family and friends for a more balanced life. It’s easy enough to pour your heart and soul into your business, but it’s important to consider your ability to continue enjoying your work in years to come. This way, you save yourself from getting burned out.
